    Christian Higher Education: Faith, Teaching, and Learning in the Evangelical Tradition provides a multiauthored, symphonic, and theologically shaped vision for the distinctive work of Christian higher education. More than two dozen scholars and practitioners have joined with us to put together this volume, which we trust will be both informative and helpful for administrators, board members, donors, church leaders, faculty, staff, students, and parents. We believe the book offers guidance for those who are new to Christian higher education as well as for those who are seeking to understand better how Christian educators think about teaching, learning, scholarship, and service and about how the whole academic program relates to the church, culture, and society. Each chapter has been written by a person with considerable experience in his or her particular field. At times, we have allowed some tensions between the authors and disciplines to stand, which we trust will help readers get a glimpse of academic and student life among the various faculty and staff members who serve institutions in the evangelical tradition. The idea for the book began with a conversation on the campus of Trinity International University, where a number of the contributors serve. The initiative for moving forward with the project came from several of the authors but particularly Karen Wrobbel, Don Hedges, Laurie Matthias, Paul Bialek, Chrystal Ho Pao, and Brad Gundlach. The volume, however, includes representatives from about a dozen different institutions, which we believe strengthens and enhances the book.
