The first time that we come across angels in the bible is in Genesis Chapter 16, when one of them appears to Hagar in the wilderness. Hagar, through Abram, had recently conceived; causing trouble to erupt between her and Sarai. Sarai dealt harshly with Hagar, who then fled into the wilderness. It was at this point that Hagar had an encounter with an angel, who instructed her to return to Sarai and submit to her. At no point in this account of Hagar's meeting up with an angel does she show any concern about meeting a supernatural being. Nowhere does Hagar make any comment that she might be wrongly influenced by God's messenger, who had come with instructions directly from the throne room of God.
