It is also (which does not always follow from rich books) an enriching book, one which opens up new visions, and prompts and hints and suggests, a book which invites its readers to explore new paths themselves. Its theme, the nature of African Christianity, might until recently have seemed recondite, and may still appear to be a matter of exotic or specialist interest.
